Prof Pardjianto and the RSUD Dr Saiful Anwar Hospital

The RSUD Dr Saiful Anwar Hospital, represented by Prof Bambang Pardjianto with whom we undertook our first operating campaign among the islands back in 2014, is the Indonesian partner of the Deutsche Cleft Kinderhilfe. Malang is a large city on Indonesia's main island of Java. The hospital in Malang is very renowned and has an excellent department for the treatment of cleft patients. And it was here that Prof Pardjianto came up with the idea of not wanting to abandon the children with cleft lip and palates that were born on remote islands. The effort is considerable, but worthwhile. At each of the campaigns - which can last for up to a week at a time - some 30 to 40 children and their families can be helped. Our project manager and coordinator is Dr Ulrike Lamlé, who herself lived for several years on Java and speaks Indonesian.
