{"id":10017798,"date":"2020-07-06T10:28:00","date_gmt":"2020-07-06T08:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.spaltkinder.org\/unkategorisiert\/expansion-of-our-network-in-bolivia\/"},"modified":"2023-07-12T12:54:11","modified_gmt":"2023-07-12T10:54:11","slug":"expansion-of-our-network-in-bolivia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spaltkinder.org\/en\/from-our-projects\/expansion-of-our-network-in-bolivia\/","title":{"rendered":"Expansion of our network in Bolivia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Early this year we got a cooperation offer from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ayninakuna.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fundaci\u00f3n para la Salud \u201cRoberto Rosa Ressini\u201d Ayninakuna<\/a> in Cochabamba. Ayninakuna was established in 2017 by the distinguished pediatric surgeon Dr. Roberto Edmundo Rosa Ressini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\" tabindex=\"-1\"><span title=\"\">Over<\/span><span title=\"\"> many years, Dr. Rosa built up a treatment center for children with cleft lip and palate in the Aranjuez Clinic in Cochabamba.<\/span> <span class=\"\" title=\"\">86 percent of Ayninakuna\u2019s patients are under one year old.<\/span> <span class=\"\" title=\"\">An early start of treatment ensures the best results.<\/span> <span class=\"\" title=\"\">The treatment protocol developed by Dr. Ressini calls for lip surgery in the third and palate surgery in the eleventh month after birth. <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spaltkinder.org\/en\/what-is-cleft\/\">NAM (Nasoalvolear Molding)<\/a> is used as a preoperative measure. <span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\" tabindex=\"-1\"><span title=\"\">In addition to the full spectrum of surgical interventions, the center offers comprehensive, long-term care for the children and their parents.<\/span> <span title=\"\">Family psychosocial support has been available from the start.<\/span> <span title=\"\">The children are treated with orthodontics and speech therapy as needed.<\/span> <span title=\"\">In the past 18 years, over 6,000 children and adolescents have been treated at the center.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018, one year after the establishment of the foundation, Dr. Roberto Edmundo Rosa Ressini sadly died. Since then his life\u2019s work, the Ayninakuna treatment center, has been headed by Dr. Eligio Rolanda Acienega Llano, a surgeon trained by Dr. Ressini. Additional collaborators are Dr. Karina Quiroga Loza and two anesthetists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initial cooperation agreement provides funding for 100 surgeries. A continuation of the agreement beyond these initial surgeries is planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Find more information about our work for <a
