In 2024, World Children’s Day<\/a> will be held under the motto \u201cInto the future with children’s rights\u201d<\/a>. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is meant to draw attention to and protect \u201cthe very special needs and interests of children\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our work helps children exercise several of their rights at once: Article 24 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child states \u201cthe right of the child to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health\u201d. Deutsche Cleft Kinderhilfe e.V. is committed to the treatment of cleft lip and palate: So that children with congenital cleft deformities can leave behind as many as possible of the numerous health problems and difficulties in everyday life caused by an untreated cleft<\/a>. And start a new life with better prospects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After all, the children we help bear no blame for their difficult start in life: they have been born with a cleft by chance, and happened to be born in a country whose health system does not cover the costs of cleft surgery for everyone. To ensure that these children can exercise their right to health without restrictions and build their own lives, we cooperate with doctors, institutions and passionate donors<\/a> from all over the world. As a result, thousands of children every year gain the opportunity to start a better life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
