International Cooperations
Wherever the existing structures in our countries allow, we invest in the development of an interdisciplinary treatment network that provides children with cleft lip and palate with comprehensive treatment beyond the surgery. An approach that pays off in the long term – and requires the appropriate know-how and financial resources. International joint projects with partners who pursue similar goals help us on this way.
Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation, Taiwan
The Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation (NCF), based in Taiwan, was founded in 1989 by Dr. Samuel Noordhooff. The foundation has been running its own projects worldwide since 1998 under the motto “Love makes whole”. We are united by the philosophy that cleft children need comprehensive, long-term therapy. We run two joint projects in Vietnam. Our goal: to provide cleft children from needy families with qualified surgical care and access to other necessary follow-up therapies.
Transforming Faces, Kanada
Transforming Faces (TF) is a non-profit organization from Canada. Jackie Elton, one of the co-founders, was herself born with a cleft lip and palate. Motivated by her own experience, she placed the “Comprehensive cleft lip and palate care”, ie the comprehensive cleft therapy, at the center of her help for needy cleft children. We started the cooperation with TF in summer 2018. TF supports pre- and post-surgery therapies in our Indian treatment centers in Bengaluru, Kolkata and Mysuru. We support a TF project in Costa Rica.
Operation Cleft Australia, Australien
Operation Cleft Australia (OCA) was founded in September 2005 as an initiative of the Rotary Club Box Hill Central in Australia. Today, the initiative is supported by Rotary clubs across Australia. OCA has been working in Bangladesh for many years and has been working with us under the “Cleft Bangladesh” umbrella since the end of 2018. Thanks to the cooperation, we were able to significantly expand our aid in Bangladesh.
Circle of Cleft Professionals (CoCP)
Deutsche Cleft Kinderhilfe is a founding member of the Circle of Cleft Professionals (CoCP). The CoCP is a worldwide network of cleft experts from all disciplines and leading cleft aid organizations. Its aim is to promote professional exchange and knowledge transfer in order to advance interdisciplinary help for cleft children.
