A surgery sponsorship gives a child born with a cleft condition the treaetment they urgently need for a healthier future. In most cases, this means repairing a cleft lip. Your donation covers the cost of this vital treatment—directly and effectively.

What you’ll receive as a surgery sponsor
Around four weeks after your donation, you’ll receive your personal sponsorship sheet. It includes photos and medical information about your sponsored child’s treatment, showing the change your donation has made—before and after the operation.
In some cases, you may even be able to continue supporting “your” child on their journey. Many of our young patients have not only a cleft lip, but also a cleft palate—and may need an additional operation. If that is the case, you have the option to fund this follow-up surgery through a second surgery sponsorship.

Do I enter into an ongoing commitment with a surgery sponsorship?
No. A surgery sponsorship is a one-time gift and does not involve any ongoing commitment.
Can I choose a specific child?
In our project countries, thousands of children are waiting for cleft surgery. All of them urgently need support. Your donation is used where it is needed most. We select children for surgery sponsorships from the operations that are documented each month.
Can I sponsor a child from a specific country?
The number of operations in our project countries varies greatly and can fluctuate due to circumstances that are not always predictable. If you have a particular country close to your heart, please get in touch with us—we’ll be happy to discuss what may be possible.
What is the personal sponsorship report?
All surgeries carried out by our local surgical teams are documented in our patient database and reviewed by us once a month. Based on this, we create your personal sponsor update, which includes key information about the child and their treatment—for example: first name, age, diagnosis, type of surgery, and before-and-after photos. We will send your sponsor update by email. Depending on when your donation reaches us, this may take up to six weeks.

Eine Operationspatenschaft ist eine einmalige Unterstützung und nicht an eine Dauerspende gebunden.
Kann ich mir ein Kind aussuchen?
In unseren Projektländern warten tausende Kinder mit Lippen-Kiefer-Gaumenspalte auf eine Operation. Alle sind gleichermaßen auf Hilfe angewiesen. Ihre Spende wird dort eingesetzt, wo sie am dringendsten benötigt wird. Aus den monatlich dokumentierten Operationen suchen wir die Kinder für die Operationspatenschaften aus.
Kann ich eine Operationspatenschaft für ein Kind aus einem bestimmten Land übernehmen?
Nein. Die Operationszahlen in unseren Projektländern sind sehr unterschiedlich und können durch für uns nicht immer kalkulierbare Umstände auch mitunter sehr schwanken. Sollten Sie ein "Wunschland" haben, das Ihnen besonders am Herzen liegt, nehmen Sie Kontakt mit uns auf.
Was ist das persönliche Patenblatt?
Alle Operationen unseren Chirurginnen und Chirurgen werden in unserer Patientendatenbank dokumentiert und einmal im Monat kontrolliert. Basierend darauf erstellen wir die Patenblätter. Diese beinhalten Informationen zu Ihrem Kind und seiner Behandlung: Vorname, Alter, Diagnose, Art der Operation, Vorher-Nachher-Bilder.
Wir versenden Ihr Patenblatt per E-Mail. Je nachdem, wann Ihre Spende bei uns eingeht, kann das bis zu sechs Wochen dauern.
